Spring has sprung at last, we can actually see the green shoots of recovery, (certainly on the plants) . Its amazing how nature adapts to different growing conditions and yes the green buds are starting to burst open.   Remember that it is still quite early and the soil is still quite cold so if you are intending to sow some seeds outside whether vegetable or hardy annuals it might be wise to put a cloche over the ground first which will warm the soil up and make the seeds germinate quicker and better.
As from  Monday 5th April through to the end of June the garden centre will be open until 8pm weekdays.
Remember all our food is home made on the premises and simply delicious.
Did you know that Garden Wise is a local family owned business. In fact this year this is our 30th Anniversary, and I still look as young now as I did 30 years ago.

On the weekend of 8th and 9th May we are going to have another Greenhouse Doors open day when you can see how we grow all our own bedding plants.  It also lets you see the quality we have to offer and the range comming on.   I have got to admit that the quality of the plants seem to be the best we have ever produced.   The root systems on the plants are absolutely fantastic  and the top growth is even better. Come and find out how we do it. the greenhouse will be open from 10am-4pm Saturday  8th and Sunday 9th May.

We are delighted to announce that we have won some awards.  Announced recently  by the Garden Centre Association. we have been judged the Best Plant department, Best Gardening Retailer and the best point of sale for Scotland.    Our positioning in the GCA legue table of garden centres has jumped to number 49 for the hole of the country.  Not bad as three years ago we were not even in the top 100.   Thanks to all my staff for all the hard work they have put in to get to this position.

Have you any ideas how we can improve the garden centre, we do listen and if we think it is good we may implement it.  just let us know..

Did you know that we recycle many tonnes of cardboard, plastics, wood, and metals each year,  we are also looking into the possability of wind power for energy, water recycling for plants and toilets, and heat pumps for heating the greenhouses. It all takes time and red tape to organise.
We  have had some school visits lately and we were pleased to have around 50 children from Laurieknowe primary when p1 and p2 sowed sunflower seeds  and the eco committee from Mouswald primary are going to do experiments with the vegetable gro sac and vegetable compost..    We have also been asked to have some involvement in projects being organised by St Josephs college.
