Potting Compost - Furniture
With bedding plants make sure that any tender varieties like Lobellia, French Marigolds, Geraniums and a whole host of others are not planted outside before all chances of frost have gone. which means mid to late May.
After purchasing any hardy plants it is imperritive that you plant them in the garden as soon after purchase as you can. and please do water them in well and water every couple of days until the plants are established. A good sprinkling of tree and shrub fertiliser will help as well.
Most vegetable plants will be atacked by Slugs. so it is best to sprinkle some slug pellets lightly around your young seedlings.   If you are worried about birds or animals getting the dead slugs then put some pellets under a slate or large stone.

The following shrubs should have been cut down to about 15cm high (6inches) by now, this will encourage growth. they are Buddleija Lavatera and Cornus. This job is so easy to do I did mine with a chain saw.
